Hello Beautiful Humans! I am brand new to this whole blog thing, so please bear with me while I learn.
I have SO many things I want to talk about and share with the world! I just haven’t had the slightest idea where to begin, so now I’m just sort of winging it!
That said, I guess I’ll start with elaborating a little on my About Me.
I’m Scarlett! I am a norse pagan witch, married to the most beautiful woman on Earth, and we have 5 incredible and insane kids, 4 chaotic German shepherds, 2 cats, and a bearded dragon. We used to have fish and snakes too but we had a hard time keeping up with them at the time… maybe again someday!
We are all on the Neuro-Spicy Scale and we fit into several different sections of the alphabet mafia scale too! We began homeschooling in 2020 due to covid, but we had always wanted to homeschool, so we decided to continue it until 2024. The first couple years were wonderful, but eventually we had to go back to work. After that, homeschooling became incredibly overwhelming for all of us, so we put them back into public school last year…. and regretted it by Christmas break… so this year we’re homeschooling again!
BUT… this time we are going to do things a bit differently! After a year break from homeschooling and seeing how public schools are nowadays, I realized that my methodologies last time around were incredibly overrated and flawed. So this time we’re going to switch things up a bit and make it interesting! SO EXCITED DIVE INTO IT!
I still work, but I’m working on gradually switching that around too. I always thought that when people said, “the 9 to 5 life just isn’t for me,” or, “I just can’t handle normal shift work,” that they were just being “picky” or “lazy.” … boy was I wrong… I get it now, and I’m sorry to anyone else who feels that way for ever judging you.
THIS 9 TO 5 SHIFT WORK IS NONSENSE AND IS ABSOLUTELY NOT FOR ME!
I mean I caaaannnnn work normal hours… But honestly, I’ve been working 7:30-6 for 4 days a week for about 7 years total (with a 3 year gap during covid), and all it has done is waste 7 years of my life with my kids and 7 years of my own personal potential.
I’ve discovered that I am an extremely creative person, and I have the capacity to do, love, and be great at many things. I don’t have to settle for monotonous work, getting paid too little to matter…
I’m also in college again… yes, at 32 years old. Womp Womp – Better late than never! I went to college after high school (2011-wanted to do nursing), but I had no idea what I was doing and my now ex-husband controlled every move I made – including what I was allowed to learn – so I dropped out. Years and stories later – I got my associates degree in 2020! Now, I’m working on my bachelors degree in Interdisciplinary Studies (it’s basically a customizable degree with a heavy lean on leadership). I’m focusing primarily on Psychology, Sociology, Criminal Justice, and obviously Leadership.
I’ve always loved school! If I could simply make a whole career out of learning new things, I would. As a matter of fact – I’m working on several projects right now that might actually allow that… Hmmm…. We’ll see how it goes.
Other randomness about me – I collect miniatures, trinkets, keychains, and porcelain dolls (Yeah I’m a Crow LOL). I love crafting, DIY, reading, writing (Y’all, I’m writing a book… or maybe a couple… and I never even thought I was capable of writing anything other than poetry!), art, and exploring many avenues of identity, science, theory, and magic. I create curriculum and home systems (chores, logs, routines, etc), and my wife and I own a photography and graphics business.
Needless to say, my brain is kaleidoscope of fascinations – from true crime and forensics to emotional literacy and neurology to the spiritual power of storytelling. And, there are SO MANY tabs open in my brain with just a simple search bar ready to click enter and embark on some new random journey!
Scottwarts Academy is the name we have chosen for our homeschool, and has now turned into simply the name of our home. (It’s quite cute really… we have custom rainbow jerseys that say ScottWarts – mine says “Boss Mom” and my wife’s says “Coach Mom” – her idea and I agreed LOL)
I can’t wait to dive into literally anything and everything with you guys! FAIR WARNING! I can occasionally be a bit unhinged… but I’m remarkably self aware and will straighten myself out within the same paragraph if you’ll stick with me! I am open minded and welcome any and all suggestions for topics! I love researching things (I will literally write research papers in free time occasionally just to scratch that itch!). I LOVE a HEALTHY and RESPECTFUL debate.
I plan to use this blog as a way to encourage and empower like minded community, inform and debate, theorize, and entertain. But, primarily this blog is personal – I want to brag on my kids and allow them to showcase their accomplishments (they’ll end up with space here as well once I figure out how), to help others on their journeys through homeschooling or chaotic home systems, to spread awareness and encourage conversation on difficult topics, and MOST importantly – to assist in my own healing journey.
I truly hope you tag along while we build something wild and wise together – but if you make it this far and decide I’m not your type – I wish for you to have the best day, week, year, and life imaginable – see you next time!
